2026 Theme

goal setting personal development Jan 05, 2026

Building on my last post, after much reflection, I’ve landed on my theme for 2026: Consistency.

I usually start thinking about my theme in the fall. Sometimes it comes easily; sometimes it doesn’t click until the new year. This year, I didn’t land on it until I sat down to write my reflection on last year’s theme of Home.

The act of writing forces me to slow down. It creates space between my thoughts instead of letting them race ahead unchecked. Writing by hand slows things down even more, and I’ve found that’s often where clarity shows up.

But back to consistency.

This is a lesson I’ve struggled with learning for a long time. Being on mat leave felt like the right season to revisit it. Particularly as I gear up to return to work, I want to feel have solid systems in place to ease that transition. I considered themes like Routine or Discipline, but as a new mother, anything too rigid felt misaligned (and like setting myself up for failure).

This year I need flexibility - but I also need structure and systems to keep me accountable. That’s where consistency comes in.

Here’s how I’m applying it this year:

👉 Writing & sharing: writing more and staying consistent with my newsletter in a way that feels fun, creative, and sustainable. Creativity begets more creativity and I've noticed that the more I write, the more I get ideas about what else I want to create or write about.
👉 Movement: making time to work out regularly, but being flexible about when it will fit in during my day (because baby). I'm also committing to getting outside daily with the stroller, even in the snow. Movement has a direct impact my mood and mental health. I'm just better at everything when I've had a chance to raise my heart rate.
👉 Mindfulness: meditation, journaling, or a quiet walk with no music or podcasts. Again, whatever makes sense for that day, the important thing is thatI I take some time for myself in silence.

This year isn’t about building a lifestyle around elaborate habits, its about reinserting the tried and true back into my life with regularity.

This year isn't about reinventing the wheel. I’m going back to tools I already know work for me.

This year, for me, is about consistency.

If you're still working through your 2026 plans, I invite yoy to ask yourself:
⭐ What do you want more of this year?
⭐ What lesson are you ready to learn?
⭐ What actions are you going to take towards those things?
⭐ How are you going to build those actions into your calendar?

Let me know what you come up with, I'd genuinely love to hear.

Whatever your goals, I wish you good luck!
